Started out with 3 years of electronics in high school, then went on from there after I joined the service. Started out fixing electronic items then eventually became a paratrooper, then started flying as a crewman on KC-130 transport/tankers. What a blast of a career! I got to work on everything from radios, to trucks, to airplanes.
After I retired from the Marines I just kind of floated around doing all kinds of things. I eventually spent 15 years working for Norfolk Southern railroad. I finally had to quit because it was just too painful to climb up on the engines. I'm on disability now so pretty much do what I want when I want, lol.
Decided to get back into Einstein@Home when I remembered all the good people on here. I'm having a blast learning about all the changes after all these years.
I really like all the good people I've met on this project. I'm a firm believer in science in general and wish more people were interested. Being an old radio tech for a few years, and being a Ham Radio operator for many years, just makes a project like this fascinating to me. Drawing out those tiny tiny signals to detect neutron stars is science at it's best.
