I have duplicated my Boinc installation on at least one machine. When one runs out I switch to the other. A pain in the A but it least it keeps the work flowing.
Once my initial install went idle I exited Boinc and backed up the directory. Deleted the client_state.xml, client_state_previous.xml, sched_request_einstein.phys.umw.edu.xml and sched_reply_einstein.phys.umw.edu.xml file. Then restarted Boinc and attached to E@H. The machine now has two accounts as each one runs out of work I stop, back it up, restore other and restart.
ps you only have to delete the xml files when you wish to create a new instance.
I just got a couple of WUs running only 10 minutes on a Dual Pentium IIIs 1266.
Even with faked CPUs (quota = 128) this is work for only 10 hours on this host, even less on faster boxes.
With my Barton 2800+ and short wus, i have reached for the first time the maximum daily wu quota, some days ago.
(Einstein is running with an other project "luckily")
I would like to know
- what would be the load on the server with a daily wu quota = 40 or 45
and
- why Einstein Team doesn't answer ;)
