no, up to version 4.19 (which i am running at the moment) everything works good.
but from 4.20 boinc uses a new installer which makes my problems

Yes, Me too ... The versions above 4.19 don't seem to work well for me. So, I am sticking with 4.19 until the next stable build. You may want to do the same ...
I just tried to install 4.22 and it stopped with this error message:
> Error 1609.An error occured while applying security
> settings. Users is not a valid user group. This could
> be a problem with the package, or a problem
> connecting to a domain controller on the network.
> Check your network connection and click Retry, or C...
Stopped there and the only click-box was [OK]
I read in this thread @Seti that it could be a problem with my german version of WinXP, but as this is an international project, it should run in every possible language (at least the installer).
Anyone else with this problems? In any other language?

Just a thought, when I installed 4.20, 4.21, and 4.22 my Mcafee firewall, prompts me immediately (something about malicious script), and I have to click "Allow entire line", then later in the install (when the Boinc manager tries to load for the first time. I get two seperate firewall message, one to allow the Boinc Manager to use the web, and one to allow the service to use the web.

The developers know about the problem with the German install as one of the Alpha testers has a German install. 4.22 is code that is in testing, and you use at your own risk, it has not been made public.

Hello John,
I know that, and that's the reason for not to swear and give you names ;-)
No, really, I just wanted to tell you about this bug, and give you more information. I successfully swiched back to 4.19 and didn't loose any work. So no real problem.
But for an official release it would be a real problem. It has to work indifferent of the language of the OS.

@John McLeod VII, the alpha-team and "howdy gang".
(As the bug is known from beginning of the CC 4.20)
Is that the way to exclude germans for not using Alpha-Clients?
Are the CC 4.2x only made for "Americans"?

At first, please accept that knowing a bug doen't means that it is easy or quick to fix. The priority for fixing Bugs in the development releases is driven by the needs of the development process.
If you like it to use the buggy and unfinished releases, I am happy if this is interesting for you. And if we can, we like to help you. But the developers will fix the bugs as it is useful for the project. If this possible means to exclude someone from using a special Alpha release, until a bug is fixed, this is okay for the Alpha testers. So I believe it should be for you too.
The BOINC Alpha testers are experienced BOINC and computer users who can fix and overcome most problems without needing support. Because of this, a small problem like this missing Users group exclude non of them from testing.
I hope you will find one of the next releases more usfull for you.

Is it a firewall problem?
