As mentioned before I have

As mentioned before I have the same problem, on PC's running Win2000 and WinMe (and also WinXP Pro if I remember well).
When starting Boinc Manager it opens comletely empty, no "connnected to Localhost" or any other information on any tab, but Seti running. I don't have to exit or kill the manager to get it working again, I just minimize the window, dubble click on the Boinc icon on the Windows taskbar and open the Boincmanager window again. From that moment all info is there.
Does this also work for other people?

I can prevent this error from happening. The problem looks to be the /s switch to start the manager minimized. If I don't use that everything works well.

It looks like this problem is solved in the next version of Boinc:

Rom
- Bug Fix: Inconsistant window state was causing the BOINC Manager to
be blank on startup, basically either wxWidgets or Windows wasn't
properly dealing with the Window state changes and the client
would believe it was not being displayed when in fact it was on
the screen. When the window was hidden from view, it would
skip updating any of the controls.

4.21 is out for alpha

4.21 is out for alpha test.
updated 3 machines Only one has a problem.

will report if I can duplicate it.....

After uninstall 4.20 I installed 4.21
Boinc manager comes up full screen, loads no problem
then automaticaly minumized to task bar. once minimized cannot maximize...

Reboot same procedure happens again.

I used the repair function, Reboot no change apperently installs as a sevice but with a non fuctioning Icon in the taskbar.

Now I will try and ubinstall and reinstall....

Some of the later versions require that you un-install the old version and only then install the newer version. In some cases I have seen messages from people that did not un-install the older version, that uninstalling the newer version also may work.

I'm not sure what tyhe

I'm not sure what tyhe message means.
Probably you know, but just to be sure: you have to uninstall version 4.19 before installing 4.6x/4.2x. But I don't know if not doing this can cause this error. :-)

Edit: hmmm... Paul was 15 seconds faster. I should attent a typing course and start typing with 10 fingers. ;-)

If you install the old version (4.19) do you have the same problem?

I hope you made a back-up so you can go back to a working version ...
