Well to be fair if the yanks had torched Buck House in 1837 in retaliation for 1814, we wouldn't have been too impressed either!
The Statue of Liberty quip about being trapped on an island was amusing, but of course there is a good reason why it is there. It was meant to be a symbol of freedom and almost the first thing immigrants and settlers would have seen on approaching New York by sea. Presented by France to the USA it is on what was called Great Oyster Island, which was renamed Bedloe's island, then Liberty Island in 1956.
Quite educational round here isn't it :-)
