Do you have permission from your school administrators to do that? Someone who installed seti on a bunch of school computers without it a few years ago got arrested for doing that...

I explain in an exhibition

I explain in an exhibition the objet of boinc and my teacher said "ok, I'll look that projects are ..."

Administrators would be forced to connect computers with boinc...and in my opninion it´s an ethical error meet boinc and don´t put it... it´s as meeting the recycling and not recycling

And on the other hand, this is spain, this is the paradise of thieves and murderers...

They should give me a award by put boinc and collaborated with science...

Thanks DanNeely for waring me, but it´s all controlled...

Hello all... the average cpu

Hello all... the average cpu has xx gflops where as an good gpu will have xxxx gflops quadprupel the amount of work processed, hench gpu crunching is more efficiant and faster. I switched to 2 HD5870 = 1600 shader cores running 2720 gflops my i7 950 runs 32 gflops at best....Card memory is also crucial as well as system ram/speed.anyway over nite my RACwent from 75000 to 125,000 and still climbing. I have 15 cpu cores(4 ht) 2 hd 5870 1 hd4670...One rig,Intel i7 running 8 E@H with ati Collatz, 1 rid AMD quad, 1 hd 5870 4 primeG 1 ati collatz and so on...Bset advice invest in a mid range HD card..The hd5870 are DP. I must atest I am no in the for a score...but it is a nice add on

As you are aware though an ATI 5870 will not crunch here at Einstein, or several other projects either because they use Nvidia cards ONLY! YES the 5870 is a very nice card, but it is not the total answer to crunching.

The reason I choose the hd5870 was money...Hello, also if you took my statment as the 5870 be-all-end-all gfx card...well..you are wrong. Money and the card being a DP card was the determing factors...Yes I know 5870 will not crunch here...but I sure do hve A"plenty of cpus to do so. Imho ATI cards are better than Nvidia, except the gtx 5xx and Fermi cards, are just re-branded cards with code/memory tweeks, where as ATI cards are all built from scratch, imo.

I too have a bunch of ATI cards and also think they are currently better than their Nvidia counterparts for most of Boinc. But your last statement got me to thinking of a problem card I have, an ATI 5550 and the search I did yesterday for its specs when I found this:
http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-Radeon-HD-5550-Rebranded-to-Radeon-HD-6390-165952.shtml

Apparently ATI rebrands its cards just like Nvidia does. Now to what extent or whatever I have no idea, I just wanted to let you know what I saw. Crunching is what is important and crunching is what we do!!

It's not so simple: for

It's not so simple:

for dnet/milky/cc you want ati card
for prime grid/gpu grid/einstein you want/need nvidia

For the time being, it would seem that this GPU re-branding activity is restricted to the Russian market, but we'll certainly keep an eye out in order to see whether AMD is going to push this renamed Radeons to shelves in other parts of the world as well.

Alto they are talking about old cards in Russia..Crunching.... I cud not agree with you more!

As I have said the factors for my gfx selection was cash_a_rinoz and the need for a DP gfx. Imo the 5870 fit that bill for the projecs that I crunch, to me its an all around mid end card..Oh I just read Nvidia will be coming out with an 4/12 core gpu cards...Im sure at a premium price to match! I wish I cud buy an 2/4 core gpu fermi..
