Wow!  In Rockford where I live it is basically dry, the grass has turned brown like it normally does in mid August.  It has been like that since early June.  But at least the humidity is lower than normal.

I wish!!! My forecast for the upcoming week is in the low to mid 80's for highs and about 70 for the lows, with a standard chance of an afternoon thunderstorm but nothing special.

The prediction here in the NW is under 75 the rest of the month and partly cloudy and today it is cloudy but stopped raining after a week of rain and the good part is I mowed about a minute before the rain started so I am not behind on that and had also just transplanted a golden chain tree from a cutting I had taken 3 years ago so it is happy about the rain and clouds.....so am I

It's raining right now and it's supposed to rain even more towards the end of the week, right it's one of those pop up t-storms from the hot afternoon Sun. You should see all the tourists leaving the beach...don't they know as long as there's no lightening it's probably cleaner and safer that what they've been swimming in?

Read a report this afternoon

Read a report this afternoon that ten counties in East Oklahoma have been declared disaster areas after this weekend's severe thunderstorms came through. Driving around town and seeing so many trees uprooted and tree limbs knocked down (including the ones in my backyard), I can understand why.

I've lived through a goodly amount of storms and bad weather, but I've never been in a disaster area until now.

On Father's Day my in-laws, my wife and I were planning a simple lunch from KFC, but it turned out that about 2/3s of the restaurants and other eateries in town were closed by power outages. After calling around for alternatives, we found one on the other side of town that was open. Had to wait awhile to get seated, but had a good meal anyway. Seems everyone else looking to eat out pretty much had to come to the same restaurant.

WOW glad you guys are okay, do you have a storm shelter in the backyard or do you have to go somewhere? In Perrytown, Texas where a bunch of people died when a tornado hit, the town turned the power off to protect people if the lines came down, seems the tornado alert sirens got turned off as well so no warnings happened and people were caught unawares. Even the power to the cell phone towers was cut so no cell service either. AND of course it was dark when it all happened so no one but the storm chasers who were telling the National Weather Service that a tornado was on the ground and heading towards the town couldn't warn anyone in town!!

Last night a HUGE line of thunderstorms came thru my area and after multiple power loses and quick back on agains I decided to turn off all of my pc's for the night, they are back on now but it was a noisy night. This morning it's all nice and sunny again so they are back on again but who knows what this evening will bring as the temps are supposed to be in the low 90's again.

Had a severe thunder watch in eastern Kansas.  And someplace around 3am I woke up to a huge explosion-like noise.  I hope it was thunder.

I took a nap today at 2:30 pm, it's now 4:30 pm and it was thundering when I laid down and it's STILL thundering out there!! No lightening that's I've see so far though and no power blinks either thank goodness. I do have a whole house surge suppressor but still pc's going on and off several times from power outages is not a good thing.
