What do I need to install to

What do I need to install to get this working on the I7 4771?
The Intel SDK toolkit or the Intel Iris and HD graphics driver version 15.33.8.64.3345?
I am new to this functionality of the CPU but don't want to mess up things by installing a wrong driver.
Thanks for the answer.

No need to download the SDK

No need to download the SDK Toolkit, the graphics driver should be enough.
I've experienced problems with some of the driver versions, right now I'm using 15.31.17.64.3257 (9.18.10.3257) on my HD4000 and that's running fine. Some of the problems I and others have experienced with newer drivers are discussed in the "Problems and Bug Reports" section in this thread.

I guess I am not able to use

I guess I am not able to use my Intel HD Graphics 2500 (GT1) based on the below link message?

Well, just one line of the message:

Quote:
2014-01-02 17:21:32.2215 [PID=31929] [version] OpenCL device version required min: 102, supplied: 101

Look back to the very first post in this thread - message 125627:

Quote:
* OpenCL 1.2 capable driver, e.g 9.18.10.3165 seems to work. (we got tons of errors with older drivers, but this might be fixable).

(I think they decided it was easier to ask people to update their drivers, rather than fixing the application to work with older - or newer - drivers. Stick to the one in that quote)

HD2500 works fine here with the correct driver!

Last week, Heinz-Bernd posted

Last week, Heinz-Bernd posted that you may need to re-visit this app to ensure compatibility with the 10.18.10.3345 Intel driver. When you do so, there are a couple of other issues worthy of attention:

1) CPU requirements
We had a good dialog with Raistmer earlier in the thread, and as a result the SETI intel_gpu apps now use significantly less - indeed, a negligible level of - CPU resources. This Einstein app also uses very little CPU time, but - unlike the new SETI app - stalls significantly if the CPU is already at 100% utilisation.

General computer users - not the addicts who post here! - will probably run Haswell CPUs singly, and without a second discrete GPU. This means that the current 0.5 CPU specification in the plan_class doesn't free a CPU thread, and the application is under-productive. If the stalling problem can't be solved, it would be better (for the project's productivity) to declare the 1.0 CPU requirement in the plan class.

2) GPU thermal throttling
David A has decided (apparently under persuasion from World Community Grid) that CPU throttling should apply to GPU apps too. I think it's a crazy idea, but if that's the way the cookie crumbles.....

The Einstein intel_gpu app doesn't throttle in the way that BOINC expects. Even with the latest v7.2.36 alpha client (which has bugfixes in this area), Einstein's app runs at full normal speed when BOINC tries to throttle it: worse, BOINC 'assumes' that the app throttles as directed, and records a reduced runtime to compensate. I ran host 8864187 at 50% CPU throttling between 18:00 and 19:00 today (06 Jan) - the tasks ran for 11 minutes as usual, recorded 11 minutes in stderr_txt, but were reported by BOINC to have a 5.5 minute 'elapsed' time. I fear that poor elapsed time recording will have side-effects for credit scoring when/if Einstein adopts CreditNew. Perhaps this is something we can watch for and explore during upcoming testing at Albert.

BOINC has now removed the threat of throttling GPUs this way, and released v7.2.38 for testing without it.

I think it would actually be a good idea if BOINC could incorporate some form of thermal control for GPUs, but this wasn't the right technique.

I installed the Intel drivers

I installed the Intel drivers for the iGPU 15.31.17.64.3257 (9.18.10.3257) as advised in this thread rebooted the system. Now 5 Rosetta WU's and 2 GPUGRID tasks on the 2 GPU's (using both almost one CPU as well) are running, and thus 1 core is free.

When I manually update Einstein I get this message:
2/14/2014 7:34:48 PM | Einstein@Home | Not requesting tasks: don't need

I did the settings to use no CPU and no GPU for Einstein, only the iGPU.
What is wrong?
Thanks

Your computers are hidden, which makes it very hard for anyone here to diagnose.
