I don't think the third gpu is a great idea. Lazy logic would conclude that my triple gpu setup would have triple the output of my single gpu setup, but it ends only being about double as I'm not running one of those platforms with 40 pci-e lanes.

No offense meant, merle. It's just that I've seen people enthusiastically invest in multiple GPUs, only to be surprised by a huge electricity bill later on, which may make them stop crunching altogether. That's why I'd rather advice caution one time too often.
