At least my calculation was right... but it annoys me that your results differ beginning with the 7th digit. So there seems to be even different definitions of an "inch" (or the tool's coder stick to 32bit floating points... whatever...).

Okay, everything is bigger in the USA than in Europe. Why should it be different with coffee mugs... ;-)

(Btw.: when I was a kid we don't had mugs but only regular tea or coffee cups (with saucers) of ~150 ml = ~5 fl.oz. Nobody drank coffee from clumsy mugs (admitted... because coffee was an expensive luxury for weekends). I only know 'mugs' since the 1990s. They were one of the dubious phenomenons of "The West", like Coke cans, Fast Food, or disposable cutlery, cups & plates.

Are you confused yet?   LOL   I know, we yanks are not the same as you European's, or even the rest of the world for that matter.  But this is what we have and are taught in schools, and we love it!  It is very difficult to change our habits, good or bad ones, so live with it.

Not confused but astonished. With all these small but not negligible differences between old British and US units you never know if you get it right. I can imagine the pain of generations of American (and British) school kids who had to learn this and memorize a zillion of conversion factors or triple digit fractions like 231/128. Adults, of course, use fancy calculators to convert cups into ounces and vice versa....

Habits can be changed. The King forced this upon my ancestors ~150 years ago.

Some restaurants in the US

Some restaurants in the US have had cup and saucer coffee cups while others have always had mugs that just sit on the table with a slightly larger base than the rim to prevent them from getting knocked over. I'm guessing the cups and saucers getting broken were too expensive to keep replacing and the mugs were at least twice as thick but also broke sometimes when they hit the floor.

As for the Metric system the US decided that since each State controls it's own School System, often then delegating it on down the line to the Counties or Cities and Towns, so unlike the King delegating everything is his realm to us the Metric system instead of what they used previously, the US does not have anyway to make a Law like that. So instead of suggest and then give money to make it happen the US decided to just not do anything except send out a letter saying 'most of the rest of the World uses Metric and we think kids should learn it', but since they gave zero dollars to help make the change happen the letters ended up exactly where you think they would...the trash.

So the real question becomes is the process of executing a AI model specific enough you really could design an ASIC for it?
