There is a user on here who said he can make a working portable laser I don't know if he has or not yet, he says he's made a working fixed one in his backyard in the past though.

There have been lasers that can cause damage for a while. But a lot of them take too long to produce damage. You need a laser with a blaster like punch for it to be a really useful weapon.
I suspect the hunter/killer satellites as well as the ground based lasers that apparently blind satellites are the current state of the art. And who knows how long they have to stay focused.

Yes I've seen the green handheld pointer ones before, some guy was using one at my beach one night pointing it at airplanes and some people went over to talk to him and he ran off before they got to him. There is a very small airport not 1/4 mile from my house and the planes fly in and out all the time. It doesn't have a control tower though so if you come at night you are on your own as there are no 'landing lights' etc. Every July 4th and Memorial Day the guy that owns Belk's Department stores, he may have sold them is the rumor, but he owns a Chech Republic old Mig and he takes people up in rides. He does the full loops, fast turns, upside down all that stuff or he will do a really fast pass about 1/4 mile off the beach depending on what you want. He has to call ahead and make arrangements to get a truck of jet fuel to come down from Wilmington, NC so he can refuel though. We have a Belk's near the beach and he owns a multi-million dollar home on the beach.
I wonder if Einstein for example would contact her about putting her data in Boinc to help it get analyzed faster? We users are certainly more cost effective than paying for a super computer to analyze the data, although considerably slower.

I wasn't thinking about the ongoing issue of blinding pilots with those kinds of lasers. Seems like some people like "trolling" pilots.
