When I tell people that I was an official War baby and that I can remember rationing, the Festival of Britain, and the Coronation, they look at me as if I was ancient. Then I look in the Mirror and realise they are right!! At my "young" age as well :-(

Hah! listen here young man, when I were knee high to a grasshopper there were no such things as fields, they weren't invented. We grew crops by the side of the road, and we were grateful for it 'an all.

You were lucky! Track? Sheer luxury! All we had was a groove in the mud. We used to get up two hours before we went to bed, work for t'Mill owner 24 hours a day, and pay him twice our wages for the nail. And you try and tell the youngsters that today and they won't believe you, they won't!
