Hi Tullio, Happy birthday

Hi Tullio,

Happy birthday from Germany as well! I always enjoy your contributions to this forum, given your physics background and long time crunching experience.

Thanks to all who wished me

Thanks to all who wished me on my birthday. I was insulted as too old to post by a SETI@home cruncher and I was consoled by you. I have good relationships with people on all my projects. SETI@home is the only exception and the man who insulted me is Italian like me. Nemo propheta in patria, said Christ. Thanks again.

One of the reasons I stopped doing SaH was the toxic environment on the boards ... sadly there are some that have "rules" about who is worthy and who is not ... my sin was to not care about my RAC I think ...

My sin was instead that of observing that the SETI Institute seems to ignore the existence of SETI@home and to launch a SetiQuest project which more or less is a copy of SETI@home. Not being American I cannot understand why the two cannot cooperate since they have the same goal, that of finding intelligent life in the Universe, a rather distant objective. I ruffled some feathers.

For my part, I would likely have done the same ... to be honest, were there an acceptable alternative I would not be using BOINC (Folding IMHO is not an acceptable alternative) either ... then again, my aversions are pretty well known as well ...

Well, without too much digging it looks to me like SETI Quest is just an umbrella organization trying to cage donations ... and they do link back to the SaH project ...

Good afternoon Tullio, from

Good afternoon Tullio, from the UK - and sunny and warm as well (for a change).

Happy birthday, and I am pleased to see you posting, and feel sorry for the SETI poster who insulted you.

I have not found the same, but then I am 8 years younger (in the flush of youth). Yes, the SETI boards did get toxic a few years ago, but seem to have quietened. But, I don't post there too much now, and offer 1 old PC to that project now.
