Quite! Especially if you were an early participant with a 2 or 3 digit host id number! :( Then the loss would be greatly felt.
Yes... My original host number is a 43575! But now...
Instead of detaching/reattaching, a simple "reset project" should also delete all files in the project folder. At least all the files listes in client_state.xml
Then it is definitely safe to delete all files left in the folder manually, because boinc has no knowledge of them being there.
This way you may keep your host-id!
I've already done so twice to get rid of the executeables used by S5R2 and R3. Worked everytime and my host 16351 is still with me :-)
