Practical experience for disabled distance learning student

I really want to gain some hands on experience with physics(I like particles!) but don't know where to start. I have what other people would view as limiting factors, (fibromyalgia) and because I am studying via distance learning (through the Open University) I am wondering if this will limit my experience. I know that organisations have to adhere to the equal ops laws but I know from personal experience that people with health problems do experience problems in getting work, volunteer opps etc.

Any suggestions?
