Permanently on Downloading but nothing is downloading

Hi,
My new account is still not up & running because when I attach all the filessay they are downloading but in fact nothing is downlaoding at all. It just sits in limbo for hours unless I detach from the project.
I have tried several times over the past week to start the project without any sucess. I am simply hanging up the processing of Seti@home which I have been running for months.
Any ideas.

Are you using a firewall and is it set to allow both BOINC and EINSTEIN? If that's not the problem, but you are using a proxy, search the boards here for additional guidance on how to set your proxy to allow EINSTEIN. Good luck!

Your acct shows 3 computers listed, you need to merge them and it would be nice if you gave us the error message that shows in the Boinc message area, just copy and paste to your post .....

In fact there is only one computer, don't know where three comes from.
There is no error message, just nothing happening.

Each time you detach from a project and reattach a new host number is generated so you need to merge them.....

I don't know all firewalls but is there a chance that your firewall allows outgoing traffic but blocks incoming traffic to Boinc?
*edit* You have WinXP SP2 running... Do you use Wins builtin SP2:s firewall or a third party one? (or both)

My firewall is a third party one, Zone Alarm.
I have had no trouble with Seti at Home or the Climate Change project(not currently attached). Don't know why this one is causing such a hassle.

I have ZA as well, and sometimes, it needs to be re-informed that a particular application is allowed to call out, but that is the only problem that I have had with it.

Can a AntiVirus program stop such files from downloading?
I can imagine it could stop a .exe file,but I guess it has downloaded all those earth,sun and app files. Weird.
Edit: maybe I have a lousy firewall(Sygate) but I have only allowed Boinc.exe and Boinc Manager in it. I thought the app(einstein) where only speaking to Boinc.(or through it?)
Edit 2: Forgot.. I have a router too.

Yes.
But I can't say if that is your problem or what to do about it.
I would try turning off the firewall & antivirus long enough test the posibility. You should be safe as long as you don't do any surfing, e'mail, instant messaging etc.
