I am also a classic retread and to be honest I a not crazy about Boinc. I ended up with Einstein because I have been unable to get to the SETI servor. It is permanently "temporarily" unavailable. On the other hand the system may be up and running and I just don't know what I am doing. At any rate I am unable to get any new work and the screen comes up BOINC idle.

This would suggest that your computer still has work (from another project). Or that you put the project to No New Work.
When you open Boinc Manager, Work tab, is there any work in there?
- If there is, what is it from?
If there isn't, go to the Projects tab.
What does the Status behind the Einstein project say?
Options:
Select the Einstein project by clicking on it. Now just look to the left side, all the buttons.
- Is there a button called "Allow new work"? If there is, please click it. It will change to "No new work".
- Is there a button called "Resume" perhaps? If there is, click that one. It should change to "Suspend".
Else please go to General Preferences site. What is the setting behind "Connect to network about every" ?? If it is 0.1 days, then please try to set it to 1 for now.
Save the site with the button at the bottom.
Then open Boinc Manager again, Projects tab, select the Einstein project and press the Update button.
If you aren't sure you are attached to Seti and/or want help on how to attach to Seti, please go to the Seti help desk forums. We can help you there. (or I can help you here, but it's a bit weird to help on attaching to Seti on the Einstein forums. Besides, help one and everyone comes here. ;))
RE: HELLO JORD,

Looks like Boinc is knocking on the wrong Seti door.

Should it look more like this, without the 500 and "Couldn't connect" errors?
(And if you know what caused those, I wouldn't mind an answer 8-)
