Just wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone, looking foward to pleasant experence and hope to make a contribution to science at the same time.
happy crunching.
The current effort is concentrated on moving material over and doing updates to correct the content of some of the things that have been changing.
For example, today I just migrated the rest of the BOINC FAQ (the credit chapter) and made the pop-up window in the Owner's Manual...
Along with a bunch of minor edits. If you are easily amused, you can look at the new pages as they arrive. Use "Recent Changes" and if the change has an "N" it is a new page. YOu can also look at the history and see the changes.
An example there is JKeck updated the change from the old concept of Resource Debt to the new Long Term Debt which is a feature of the new Work Scheduler.
In the old FAQ, all that should be missing is the information in the SETI@Home FAQ which has to be migrated over. When that is done, that is it... the Messages have all been brought over and enhanced ... not only with new and more material, but, with more messages, I think, yes, we only documented 143 messages before. I don't know, ok, just checked and we are near 300 documented messages now ... And I have probably 150+ more that I know exist, I just have not documented them yet ... since most of them are obscure messages ... well, at least for the moment, I would not expect that you would see them much ...
The best defense is to be multi-project, no matter how much you are in love with one project over another, common sense (in my opinion) says have more than one project. When I was doing classic I some times had buffers as long as 50 WU just so I could keep busy, even if the outage lasted a week.
Of course, science wise it was likely a waste of time. On BOINC, you know the deadline ... return before then or poof ...
