To folks who have these transfer errors..
Just remembered that some download-accelerators can cause corrupt files.
Worth a try. :)
One more ting. How big is your Albert .exe file.
It's in \\BOINC\\projects\\einstein.phys.uwm.edu\\
Wondering if it downloads the whole file or only corrupts its contents.
My Albert size is 1044480 byte which works fine for me.
I'm not sure what was the size of Albert files. Since I made a mess on my computers with trying to reattach I uninstall BOINC on both machines and delete complete BOINC folder. Will return to EAH with those two machines once everything work as it should. Fortunately, my machine that works 24/7 still work nicely. But it still wasn't hit by Albert. Hope it will stay that way so I can crunch at least on one machine till bugs are sorted out.
It turns out that these workunits that run in less than an hour are a mistake in our WU generation. It's not serious enough for us to fix. But the jobs between 290 Hz and 300 Hz will complete more quickly than they are supposed to.
Thank you for calling this to our attention!!
Bruce; As of 0530 CST 29 December this is still a problem. I had to shut down an A64 3700 machine due to the quota of eight. Fast machines are blowing through these Albert WU's in a little over an hour each. The quota of 8 leaves
12-18 hours of potential additional production unavailable to the project. Regards-tweakster
>I agree.... we have another machine that is running the quota. If the low frequency WUs process in about 1/4 of the 'Einstein' WUs, even on my lowly AMD Duron that amounts to 90 minutes.....ie we run out of work in about 12 hours on the max. download of 8. It seems to me that if it takes 1/4 the time to do these WUs, the quota should be raised to 32 or so.....we have attached to an additional project to keep this machine active. The other 2 'Albert' machines are doing ok as they are doing longer (higher frequency?) WUs.....cheers, Rog.
