Sometimes mixed GPU types need to have drivers installed in certain order. Some at my team regularly crunch with fixed systems ok. I think it was AMD first then NV. I've used an RX580 and GTX970 in Win7 before as well.
As mentioned GPU-Z will show if OpenCL compute is available for any GPU in the system with check boxes at the bottom.
I use Notepad++ as well but normal notepad will work with a file extension rename from txt to xml. And of course any cc_config.xml edit requires a BOINC client (not mgr) restart to pick up changes.
