It reminds me of my youth when a passenger in the family car and how intent we were to gaze at the odometer during a voyage, just to watch it roll over at some relevant Magic Number. For me this is the literal meaning of milestones, and they were miles too ....
[ We never had a TV at home until my late teens except for a few weeks around the Moon landing in '69. This was to my great advantage. I read book after book after book. If you had said "internet" then I would have assumed some type of fishing device. ]

As for my milestones here at E@H, I have recently gone past a million yards [ as measured in inches ] ! :-) :-)
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

NO TV?
You would pass out at my house
I had my own when I was 12 and of course the one in the livingroom where we watched what the parents watched (Star Trek to Lawrence Welk back then)
I built my first satellite dish back in 1983 so I had free stuff and unedited stuff for almost 10 years (had one called NASA Select and have videos I taped from them that I imagine no other person has) and yeah I was the only one in the house watching the Moon landing.....and all the other missions before that.
Still have the 10ft C-band -KU-band dish and have a Dishnetwork HD dish and the old DirecTV dish and an old one I used as my ISP before they let me have this dsl.
I tend to save things......one of my cars since 1979 and my 4X4 since 1976 and you just reminded me of a day many decades ago I was driving the 4X4 to work and as I was driving I snapped a picture of the odometer as it flipped over to 0 again !
Funny thing is it got back up to 30,000 and something and then the guy doing the new exhaust put the pipe against the odometer sensor so as I left there it broke and even stopped the speedometer from working.
Never fixed that so it still says the same number and that was back around 1989

Actually with the number of people I see coming in who have just Doctor Googled, that is exactly right.
