Perhaps deleting the profile.

Perhaps deleting the profile. Logging out of that project, closing the browser tab. Then logging back in and creating that profile from scratch will get the test apps settings to take effect?

What's wrong with the simple

What's wrong with the simple act of going to the appropriate preferences page, confirming that the location is 'generic' if different locations are NOT being used (or setting the drop-down to the appropriate value if they are) and then scrolling down to see whether the setting for "Run test Applications?" is set to Yes, instead of No?

If it is not set to 'Yes', change it and scroll down and click "Save changes".  That's just a few clicks and virtually no risk of unforeseen consequences from something much more complicated.

If the setting already says 'Yes' perhaps the host is not using the location (aka venue - eg. generic, home, school, or work) that the OP thinks.  The host page on the website for that machine will show the location being used.

Cheers,
Gary.

it's not there by default. you need to make the file yourself.

here's a link to the documentation: Anonymous Platform

you will need to take a look at the proper <app_version>element from a PC that has already got the desired application and replicate that and adjust to your needs. you will also need to download the binary for the application you want to run.

And keep a backup of that binary in another folder.  Otherwise you will have to download it again and again if/when you don't get the app_info.xml file quite right.

I neglected to pay attention

I neglected to pay attention to the "Preference set", home vs. generic.  After setting those correctly, I have GPU tasks now.  Thank you all for the help!

I don't know why, out of the 5 projects I have, this is the only one I'm able to get GPU tasks from and they're just in "test" status.

Are you talking about different applications in e@h. Or different projects like PrimeGrid, Asteroid etc?

Some projects have no GPU applications. Some projects have no CPU applications.

Some projects only have applications for specific GPU hardware or CPU's.

So offer some more specifics. Maybe we can help. Or at least explain.

I have Einstein, Milkyway,

I have Einstein, Milkyway, Rosetta, climateprediction, and World Community Grid.  I checked account settings for each that might allow GPU tasks, but nothing.  I'd get GPU tasks from a few of them with my last Nvidia card so it might be the lack of CUDA support.

all these don't support ARC (yet)
The ones I mentioned are the only one I know off with ARC support.
WCG may have partial supports on some sub projects, TBC

https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/apps.php => No GPU apps at all
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/apps.php => no GPU apps neither
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/topic.s?shortName=minimumreq => only OpenPandemics has GPU support (OpenCL 1.2)

so check before you joint the projects :D
