Yeah, no "Authentic AMD" there... already wondered. Another idea?

Well, I guess we are not supposed to modify the einstein app...If we had the consent of (say) Bernd we would change the string "AuthenticAMD" to "AuthenticABC" in the Einstein App with a hex editor and that's it.

AuthenticAMD

Nothing like that in the Linux app and also nothing about Intel in both apps.

What do you think about corruption and conspiracy theory? ;-)

cu,
Michael

It can't be in the Linux app. The string comes from the math library that was statically linked to the windows app, I guess it's the standard Visual C++ math lib? The Linux app is dynamically linked to libm of GLIBC.

Uppps, it's kind of late and I do have to work today :-).

I think we'll resolve this soon. Would be cool to speed up the app 30 % by just changing a string .... too good to be true... we'll see.

Good night!

Hey, I'm not angry or sth. I decided to test this myself, and this is still in an experimental kind of stage ;-) and after all we are doing this for the science.
This would definitely be cool if we got it to work :-D
I wish you a good night.

Just started reading it. If

Just started reading it. If this isn't crazy I don't know... I wouldn't believe it if it didn't fit so damn well with all our experiences... Start understanding why many of my mates hate Intels (Still, they make such nice mobile CPUs, and I couldn't live without my notebook...) There policy sucks that's for sure.

I knew about that, but Bernd didn't use the Intel Compiler.

I edited the executable and it is running fine, but after this short time I can't say anything about performance.
But I'm very nosy in this case, so I will stay up for some more time and watch the progress. :-))

cu,
Micha, who is pretty sure he will never again buy a Intel cpu. This compiler "sabotage" is one of the reasons. But imho you meet situations like that whenever a company grows to big and reaches the market power of a monopolist.
