That implies some kind of graphics error. I never have the graphics enabled, all 3 of the projects crashed at ~the same time, and no drivers have been altered since about March, and all 3 are running now, (with new wu's).
The other thing is possible, (for CPDN), but not Einstein or LHC, as I read it.
I was trying to shut down BOINC, but am unable to do so because I cannot get the BOINC Manager window to open. The icon in the system notification area is not there, (although Ctrl-Alt-Del shows all the processes running).
I have a similar problem with a number of applications that normally have their icon down there, I can't see the icons!
The only icons which do show up, and that is some time later, are NAV and the Windows Security thing telling me I have no firewall installed, (not true, I have a hardware firewall which it fails to recognise).
Apache, EyeOnSite, SoundMax, ASUSProbe, etc., all these processes are running, but I cannot access them. If I kill the process then run it manually, the icon appears. That is what I was doing after a reboot this morning.
This problem started last week when an attempt to update MS Access failed due to some repeated error against the CD.
I have exactly the same situation right now, my task manager shows them all to be running, but there are no icons for them. I cannot access the BOINC Manager.

Their "Simple Workaround" works for me, I can now see the icons.
