When I made the "leap" to BOINC from Seti Classic 5 months ago, I was totally disappointed because I too noticed very sluggish computers on 2 of my 3 hosts. I investigated all the usual task manager data to see what was slowing things down. After many weeks of playing around, I finally found that the problems were being caused by having the "tea timer" function enabled on Spybot's Search and Destroy program. I disabled the "tea timer" within Spybot and the computer responsiveness improved totally. Funny thing was that task manager never showed any processor usage of that process. Am a happy BOINC'er now. Anyone else see this on their machines?
