The fact that most people run Windows means nothing, they either need it for their purposes or plain don't know better (yet).

PS.
In the BOINC SETI world, gcc3.4.3 optimized Linux Clients have recently achieved (depending on CPU) 135-184% performance of their default Windows counterparts at 100% validation level. Not bad for a "shitty OS" I guess...

Hey! gcc creates shitty code when there is heavy usage of the x86 floating point unit. So at least in this battle Microsoft wins clearly.
