From a post on the CPDN message boards ATI has some bad drivers out. This may be the cause here. If using a ATI card try rolling back to the previous drivers and see if this helps.
It being our specific system configuration is all well and good. But it sure would help if you could know, exactly which aspect of the config is causing the problem.

Thanks for the information on the graphics problem, I to am having client errors consistantly on all machines, many after a considerable amount of CPU time, will try turning off the graphics and see what happens. Note: this problem is only on Einstein, all of the other BOINC projects are working fine now that SETI is back up. I agree its too bad because the Einstein graphics on the screensaver is a very good display.
I see there is now a new development version of BOINC (4.27) and looking at their site, it appears that this fixes a known problem with 4.25 (and possibly earlier) where "The BOINC screensaver conflicts with Microsoft Intellitype software". As I understand the information there, it's quite possible that this could be the cause of a crash when Einstein stops running whilst the screen saver is enabled. Sounds like this may be an explanation / answer. At any rate, I'm going to upgrade to BOINC 4.27 and cautiously let the graphics do their stuff again. I'll post what happens here...
I don´t know what happend exactly, but this error occured suddenly.
With 4.19 I had no problems to show graphics and the screensaver went as well. I switched to 4.25 and had no problems for some days. Then I klicked at the running Einstein WU to show graphics, the WU stopped immediately with "computation error". I tried this again on SETI WU, same thing happend.
So I switched back to 4.19. Error still there. I can try this with Einstein, SETI and CPDN: "computation error, client error". Took me several unvalid WUs.
When I don´t try to show graphics, I get valid results. Just wondering, why did it work at first and suddenly didn´t.
Whatever the problem is with graphics and BOINC, 4.27 does NOT sort them out. In fact, after moving to 4.27, I've noticed a few changes in the behaviour of my system. Firstly the BOINC screen saver does display project graphics instead of a standard default, which is nice. Secondly, it doesn't display graphics on request anymore (which is not so nice and which did work during my brief experiments in graphics with earlier versions).
Don't know exactly what my graphics card is but it's an out of the box card for an HP 9500 machine, so nothing special and no special settings I'm aware of.
Unfortunately, after displaying the screen saver graphics, not only was my latest Einstein result trashed but for the first time I've lost a climate model in CPDN (it was CPDN graphics that were shown in the screen saver). This is rather more of a tragedy given the processing time for CPDN and atlhough I'd only done 10% of my latest model I don't feel inclined to do any more dabbling for a while, now my fingers have been burned. I'm now going to completely abstain from all graphics until there is a new cut of the core client.
The BOINC screensaver conflicts with Microsoft Intellitype software.
Applications that were built before October 2004 do not
display screensaver graphics with the Service or Shared installation,
or the Single-user installation with the password protect screensaver
option on NT based machines.
If BOINC runs at the same time as Windows XP 3D screensavers,
the system becomes sluggish and unresponsive.
Dial-up users should choose the single-user installation.
Graphics sometimes do not work with ATI Graphics card.

I dont have an ATI but I do have Intellitype
am running 4.25.
einstein was fine until i added seti, then i couldn't complete a single einstein wu but seti unaffected.
have now turned off the graphics (btw my pc showed the screensaver for whichever app it was then running) BUT i can only get a blank screen saver now, my 3D ones all appear to have errors...
hey, at least einstein is working again :)
