I don’t think many people

I don’t think many people will outright leave because of lower credit. BRP7 “pays” pretty well. a lot better than Gravitational Wave tasks ever did. so your production will drop by about half, but so will everyone else once gamma ray is totally run out. GW tasks were like 1/10th the credit per unit time.

but there’s also a very large percentage of people who probably have only gamma ray set in their preferences and aren’t even aware that BRP7 exists because they don’t follow the forums as closely. So they might think Einstein is out of work and just move on to their backup projects.

George,My own

George,

My own calculations produced similar numbers.

I am now confirming 3x production is as bad as I think it is on my "one horse shay" while my "two horse shay" is running the baseline one task, one gpu.

My profile is setup for grp#1 as primary and "whatever is available" as secondary. Can't think of any other settings to make.

Maybe I will count the number of system in the top 50 that are not running brp7 at all. That should give us a ballpark idea of how many could fall out of the top 50.

Hmmm....

10 out of the first 28 (1 to 28) are not crunching brp7.

5 of them represent up to 25 systems per userid.

So the question becomes how far will they "fall" before either grp#1 tasks return or they notice they need to modify their profiles?

We are waiting with brp7 (baited) breath.

I don't believe that there is a brp7 GPU app for Macs running OS X/MacOS.  So, it appears that my Macs, including two in the top 30, are out of luck if E@H runs out of grp tasks.

Looks like at best you might be able to fall back to CPU tasks :(

There is no firm communication that grp#1 is dead. So raise another beer in celebration of it's return.

Hi Tom: E@H is

Hi Tom:

E@H is unable/unwilling to keep my fastest cruncher (2x RX 6800 XTs, 2x RX Vega 64s, and 1x RX 580) supplied with enough work to keep all five GPUs crunching - I typically have enough work for only 3-4 of the GPUs.  So, I am moving the RX 580 to a computer that has a comparatively generous cache of tasks until the problem is resolved.  I have some relatively demanding professional obligations for the next 45 days, so I don't have the time to find and connect to another project that supports AMD eGPUs under MacOS.  Worst case scenario is that I run out of E@H work units and my home and work offices will cool off below their typical temperatures (28-29 C). :-)

By the way, I love the Mellencamp lyric in your signature.  Despite the fact that I have been spending much time listening to the Springsteen collaborations on his new album, I have added an old lyric to my signature.  Thanks for the inspiration!

Dave

I'm getting no tasks

I'm getting no tasks available for the GRP#1 gpu tasks so I had to go thru and setup a backup project just in case, I have a bunch of tasks, just over 2k in progress over multiple gpu's, but I'm hoping that there are enough tasks to keep them fed even if the cache is smaller than I'd like. My cache is currently set at 1 day plus 1/2 day extra across all my pc's.
