@Kohler Hello, again. I

@Kohler

Hello, again. I just read mxdog's post (and your response) to which you provided the link, but that seems to deal with his Geforce GT520 GPU and your Geforce GTX550 GPU apparently causing failures with GW S6 tasks.

I don't have anything but the ATI Radeon X1200 display adapter in my Toshiba Satellite P205D-S8802 lap top, so I don't think that thread pertains. Although, my driver seems somewhat ancient, being from 2007.

Since the problem seemingly moves with the GPU, in both cases, I would suspect something related to the GPU or it's driver software. By any chance do both GPU's use the same driver installer, or even the same drivers? Being unfamiliar with those GPU's, I don't know how different they are.

I doubt the device manufacturer "clean rooms" the driver software, any more that Microsoft "clean rooms" new versions of it's Windows OS, but bases new drivers on older code making only the required changes for the new device. Has anyone contacted the manufacturer's support folks about this issue? Have you had any response from Einstein on the problem that is not in this thread?

Cheers,
Stephen

Okay, the last "Gravitational

Okay, the last "Gravitational Wave S6 GC search v1.01 (SSE2)" task ( http://einsteinathome.org/task/257578452 ) "Completed and validated" without error. It took quite a bit less CPU time than the failed tasks (on the order of 2/3rds the time).

So, I'm not sure what is going on. I've not changed anything on this end, not added, removed or updated any software, or changed any settings or values. Is it possible there was a bad batch of WU's? This computer goes untouched for long periods of time, and isn't busy except for BOINC and regularly scheduled anti-virus scans. I've used Google Chrome the last few days more than I have in several weeks.

I've got two Cosmology WU's in progress, another estimated 6 and 9 hours, respectively, then I'll try another Einstein WU or two just to see if they complete successfully or still fail. I really hate to waste the cycles if they start failing gain.

Cheers,
Stephen

Just in case someone

Just in case someone knowledgeable (and fast) enough gets this error again: I'd be curious to get hold of the init_data.xml of the slot that task ran in.

Hello altogether, I get

Hello altogether,

I get the same problems since weeks or even months with Einstein workunits, never with Seti WUs:

Calculation error after some few seconds of execution

or

Hours and hours of calculation without any progress (always 0,000%).

BUT I still am working with Win2k, so it seems that the described errors don't have to do anything with Win7 !

No idea what will help (no project reset, nothing) ... after hours of calculation, I delete the einstein WUs because I've got the impression that nothing happens at all (although the task manager reports 100% of CPU usage).

Greetings ...

my work around was to move

my work around was to move the gt 520 video card out of my overclocked pc and put it in my "stable one" the errors followed the card . the good results are from a 9500gt and a 9600 gso . the gt 520 errors every time it looks like but i havent put more than a couple of minutes in looking at results the long list of errors is depressing. Has anyone found out why we can't turn off the S6 project in preferances? (greyed out)

Because that's the actual work that Einstein is here for, the search for Gravitational Waves. That's what they get their grant money for. The Binary Radio Pulsar search is an add-on, it's not the main thing that this project searches for.

Hello, Glad to see someone

Hello,

Glad to see someone start a thread on a S6bucket issue that is bugging me for awhile. It was recently I too kept getting Gravitational Wave S6 GC search v1.01 (SSE2) exiting within seconds of computation with an error. FGRP, BRP4, rosetta, seti and docking all ran fine.

Below is the latest S6bucket client error I got:
task id: 112689755
6.12.34

- exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)

My setup is i7-2630qm with 8gb ram, GF525M 2gb (driver 285.62), win7SP1 64bit.

Apparently so far, this issue has yet to be resolved since it was first posted on 31 Oct. Let's hope this will be fixed soon.

Suddenly I've been getting

Suddenly I've been getting the same "Computation Error" within a few seconds.

OS: Linux xxxxxxx 2.6.35.13-92.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP
CPU: AMD Triple Core
GPU: generic Nvidia GT210
Boinc Manager: 6.10.58.

So, perhaps it's not an OS issue?

hi everyone. i'd like to

hi everyone. i'd like to join the party.

i'm not so sure that this problem is Win7 x64 specific either. my setup is as follows:

WinXP Pro SP3 32-bit
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T CPU
Sapphire HD 5870 2GB Eyefinity 6 GPU (Catalyst 11.2 drivers)
BOINC v6.12.34

...and i started getting these errors w/ S6GC tasks just recently. its the first time since the S6Bucket tasks became available that i've seen errors, and its only happening on one of my 3 hosts. i crunch BRP and GRP tasks as well, and haven't had these kinds of errors with those tasks at all. you can see all the erroneous tasks for this host HERE. note the 2 BRP errors and how they are unrelated, as one happened days before the S6GC errors and ran for a long time before erring out, and the other erred out before it even started.

at any rate, i seem to be getting the same error as others in here:

initially i suspended all S6GC tasks and let only the BRP and GRP tasks in the queue run to prevent further errors, but since you are looking for this info, i've resumed some S6GC tasks in hopes of reproducing the 20-something errors of this nature that have already occurred on this host. i'll post the contents of the init_data.xml file of the next S6GC task that fails.

...is it possible that this is just the result of a bad batch of S6GC tasks that got sent out?

ok, so my host has

ok, so my host has successfully completed and validated 12 S6GC tasks since resuming (un-suspending) them late last night...not that i'm complaining, but it figures that i can't reproduce an error when i need to...in the mean time i'll just have to keep an eye on things. i'll report back if i see another S6GC error of this nature.
