I believe the Windows data

I believe the Windows data directory entry is stored in the Registry under BOINC SSL entry

We were dry for a few days but just got a bunch of FGRPB1G work, all of a sudden. Thank goodness. Our classroom actually got cold due to the GPUs across all of our systems being idle and not heating the room up...

Next time set up a zero resource share project as a backup, that way it won't get any tasks until ie MilkyWay runs dry or you can't get to it again.

I set up Rosetta@home as a backup, and it wanted a MINIMUM of 20GB of disk space all to itself and didn't seem to clean up after itself. Each job was running quite long as well. I set it for "Accept No New Tasks". Then cleaned up its directory manually when it was done.

Yes Rosetta tasks take about 8 hours each even if you pick a shorter run time, at least for that's true, they also take alot of ram when they run. I would pick something like MilkyWay, Universe or Number Fields, Prime Grid would work too as long as you pick some very short tasks as the ones that run.

Can you tell me when “BRP7”

Can you tell me when “BRP7” search will begin? Thanks!

That sounds exciting, do you know yet if it will be in addition to the existing applications or an instead of one of the existing ones?

My understanding is the Gamma Ray #1 application will be running out of data.  So the new BRP applications will be "replacing" it in some sense.  What is not clear is the RAC score it will be assigned.  This will impact the average RAC for all of us.

What is clear is the data we are helping to investigate is shifting.

from previous comments, it will be very similar to the existing BRP4/G apps but with some slight edits to handle the different input/output files. So computationally identical, but not exactly the same. It will be a new application.

I just tried getting some of the Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1  for cpu's and Einstein is saying it has "6/11/2022 1:13:05 PM | Einstein@Home | No work available for the applications you have selected.  Please check your preferences on the web site." I did not try for gpu's though.

And yes I agree the RAC is important to get right or at least close in the beginning, with the promise to recheck it after X number of tasks have been completed, so people come and stay here.

That's kind of what I'm hoping for but maybe not quite as long, shorter tasks let older pc's participate too while longer more complex tasks tend to swamp an older pc's resources and then if they take more than 12+ hours they have a higher likelihood of failing and causing resends. Shorter tasks can also cause problems for the servers by the fastest pc's so it's a no win solution. I mean if pc A returns 15 tasks in 8 hours and then the Server has to hold those tasks waiting for pc B to return 5 validating tasks in the same 8 hours the Server would need large drives!!

I get the impression that the

I get the impression that the older/slower systems will be segregated to the BRP4/G project, while BRP7 will be reserved for the faster GPUs. But it’s all still in flux I think. If slower GPUs can still crunch BRP7 within whatever deadline they set, then it’ll be fine I think. Really just depends on how large the tasks are.
