It would be interesting to discover if all the download errors are occuring on MS XP boxes. My two working boxes have not yet been touched with the MS uprades that came yesterday.

No, I have exactly the same problems on Vista and Linux boxes so we can eliminate the MS upgrades as a source of trouble I think

I have just tried a detach / reattach from Einstein - still failing to download files.

So far we have eliminated platforms (Linux, XP, Vista and MAC OSX), Windoze updates, Mirror sites we think.

I personally have tried exiting and restarting Boinc, restetting the project, detaching from the project.

Just thought - I didn't reboot between detach and reattach, I'll try that now.

No joy - still failing downloads with for example

"14/02/2008 20:33:47|Einstein@Home|Giving up on download of einstein_S5R3_4.26_windows_intelx86.pdb: file not found"

Like others posting I have other projects on the affected boxes running and downloading fine.

Try changing your timezone.

Try changing your timezone. This will download files from another file-server.

Might help.

Interesting insight I will have to try that when I return home later. The only host I am having a problem with is also the only host that has its system clock set to UTC.

Why would this affect only

Why would this affect only two out of the four boxes I have crunching? All are set to GMT.

Since some are in the UK and

Since some are in the UK and "Wing" is east coast USA I just can't see it affecting the core problem.

Edit - Oops I take that back since Wing's box is set to UTC - End Edit

Ok I tried setting a

Ok I tried setting a different system time zone and

IT SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED

Einstein has down loaded a wu with no errors.

Wonder why some boxes on UTC are having problems but others not - Different mirrors?

Edit - Just checked on second box,

Left at UTC = Download failed.

Exit BOINC
Change system time zone (I changed one to Alaska and other to Newfoundland)

Restart BOINC

My two boxes have now downloaded a wu each.

Thanks for the suggestion Michael, seems to have done the trick.

Further Edit - Time zone changed back to UTC and another wu downloaded successfully.
