Thanks George. Your 3950X is

Thanks George. Your 3950X is taking about 6.5mins to complete the top list recalculation and the end (the 99-100% portion). Really your 3950X shouldn’t be that slow. And this supports something that another user posted in another thread. It seems that the Windows application takes 2-3x as long on this step as the Linux application. That’s 2-3x longer that the GPU is sitting idle doing nothing.

This step already takes much longer on O3 than it did on O2, and now with the added latency in windows on top of that, and without any increase in credit reward (estimated flops) its going to be very unattractive to users. Why run a task that takes 15mins and gets 1000 credits, when you can run a task that takes 6 mins and gets 3645 credits?

I really don't want to run the 03 tasks vs the 02 tasks, but as I mentioned I didn't have any 02 tasks "in progress" so I thought I'd see what was up with the 03 with mine.

You mentioned "Really your 3950X shouldn’t be that slow."  I assume you meant because I'm running Windows, not Linux.

[EDIT]

Also, I'm running RTX 2070 Super's, not RTX 2080 Ti's.

I know what GPU you have, I'm

I know what GPU you have, I'm talking about the last 1% (recalculating toplist) which is all CPU and doesn't use the GPU at all. this step on your 3950X took about 6.5 minutes according to your task info. my 5950X took ~2 minutes on this step and my much slower EPYC 7402P took 4 minutes on this step, both on Linux.

you wont have a choice soon to run O2 tasks. that run is coming to an end and there wont be more work for that. it's transitioning to these new O3 tasks.

Thank you for explaining that a little more clearly, I tend to be lame in the nomenclature (i.e. the "toplist").

And WOW!!, I knew it was faster but I didn't realize the 5950X was that much faster.

Is there anything that you see in mine that I should do differently other that switching to Linux?  I like Windows for the other things that I do when I'm not paying attention to BOINC.
