Trying to connect, and I keep getting :
'boinc failed to log in to http://einstien.phys.uwm.edu/, please check account id & try again. '
I tried many times with each of the following : the key given to me when I registered, the 'account number', and the 'cross-project' thingy.
Its simply amazing that such a huge ammount of work can go into all of this, but I am unable to find any sort of 'how to connect' info.
I actually take the url from the browser window and use that (minus the path) as they project url, since nowhere is that actually listed as what you connect to. I am just guessing at what 'key' to use to connect, since that is also not explained adequatly. This is a joke!
I can not describe how irritating this all is. You are asking me to give my time & money for your project (and don't tell me electricity does not cost money!), the least you could do is make it easy!
To put it another way (cliche coming), I can see my mom & dad not minding contributing to this kind of project, but there is no way I can actually imagine them navigating this mess to get the point of having a working setup.

There are only 2 things to enter:
1. Project URL: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/
2. Account Key: the 32 character/alpha numeric key
These were sent to you in an e-mail.
Two steps, shouldn't be that difficult.
Just a dumb broad,
Dominique
*I still know CRAP when I see it.
I'm having the same problem.

Abacker
If the above is the exact address that you tried to log onto then you would not be able to connect since you have einstein in as einstien. You just have the i and e backwards. That is why it is always best to copy and paste the url and account key from the email that they sent you. Oh the account key is the same one you used to log in to post you message.
onlysane1here and smallfry
Try the above copy and paste solution. If you are still having problems please post the error message that you are getting. The more information you can give the easier it is to find the problem.

You have mis-typed the URL. It is "einstein" not "einstien".

Not sure if you guys saw, but
)
Not sure if you guys saw, but I am copying the url I use to connect from the browser URL bar. I probably mis-typed when copying the text down from the message box. It seems that the last few paragraphs were not scanned :)
Tried again today and have been able to connect just fine. I am using the account key, sent in email. A couple points...
1. maybe I did something wrong with the account key last time.
2. Where on the website does it say what your account key is? I remember giving it a username, but I still log in with the key? Why is there a disconnect here.
3. If I were to come to the page, there should be an easy step-by-step with pics. The wierd lines between computers (though I get it fine) dont' really help, and it's the two tiny sentances at the top that are completely ignored. The picture draws your eye, and I actually overlooked the info at the top many times.
** It is working now, and I happy to finally be able to contribute !
I had this same problem with the regular SETI. It's too hard to just go to the website (there and here), and figure out very clearly what to do. It's frustrating to me, and I can imagine that it actually turns off some people.
Thanks,
Andrew Backer
