In the realm of text games, I spent plenty of time exploring all the possibilities of Leather Goddesses of Phobos (ever try it opposite sex?). Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was also good, although the "hints off" command didn't work, which meant I couldn't stop myself reading the hints to solve the game.
Leisure Suit Larry was a hoot!
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now
I was thinking of Grace Hopper who worked in the 50's on the first compiler and the early Univac line of computers. That had great relevance to the US space efforts in the 60's.
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

It's summer here. Had 44 C in the shade on Saturday. Heck of a north wind and outer suburbs of Adelaide are taking a hammering from bush fires. I kept smelling the wind over the weekend - no smoke. I used to enjoy summers ....
Cheers, Mike.

Wow !
That's 'way' too hot for me .... 44ºC = 111.20ºF
I couldn't take that.

Me either, I MUCH prefer the cold to the hot...I can always put more clothes on, but sometimes you just can't take anymore off! I lived in Alaska, Fairbanks, as a kid, it hit 67F BELOW ZERO one Winter while I was there, now THAT is cold!! If it was above 35 BELOW ZERO we kids could walk home for lunch and then be back in school for the afternoon classes. NO moisture meant not much snow and what was there was very powdery, we kids had to spit in the snow to have snowball fights. We would throw snowballs at each other before classes both in the early morning and just after lunch, we would get to sweating so we would take our parkas off and run around in our shirt sleeves until they rang the bell for us to come inside. I was a early teenager at the time.
And YES I still had to mow the darn grass EVERY weekend!! YES we had aluminum foil on the windows to keep the Sun out, and yes we would wake up to Earthquakes at least once a month, they got to be so routine we kids would just try to sleep thru them. This was a few years before the pipeline was put in and everything got real expensive. The freezer truck would come in with Alaskan Crab Legs and my mom would buy them at one dollar a bunch of 3 legs. They were HUGE and we would eat them for a week, then the next truck would come in! I would get sooo sick of crab legs by the end of the season!!
Something hitchhikey is where my thoughts are lurking at the moment...
...hasn't been... overlooked and has... rather... been ignored for what it is... complete and utter garbage? :)
edit: I'm speaking of "the guide" of course. That isn't what I'm suggesting was rubbish though... *re-read post* although it does look like that's precisely what I'm saying.
Oh, I guess I forgot to respond to that. It's not garbage, but, you are not seeking the 42 roads you must walk down. Douglas Adams would be far too obvious for an answer. You're looking for someone more along the lines of... no, it's too soon to give that hint. Remind me to revisit this thought in a week or so.
Okay, it's time for said hint. You are looking for someone along the lines of Paddy Kingsland. Only not in any way connected to Hitchhiker's.

Oh yeah, for you a north wind would be warm. Up here it's cold.
Have I mentioned that my cousin, his wife, and their soon to be four kids are planning to move from Wisconsin to Papua New Guinea as missionaries? I understand it's a long trek from one village to another, with no roads.
