No, that's tomorrow for me.

I leave Korea on Wednesday morning and get into Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon.

My apologies to Es99 for

My apologies to Es99 for forking her thread into unlikely directions (some humorous responses though)...

On the hunt for the Higgs boson

Quote:

The sum of human knowledge could be massively increased on Wednesday - but Professor Stephen Hawking could find himself $100 poorer.

As Cern prepares to switch on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) below the French-Swiss border, the physicist has a bet that it will not find the Higgs boson - the most highly sought-after particle in physics.

I am with steve on that one... Any takers on a little action???

Ladbrokes puts the Odds at 6 to 1 by year 2010

Interesting they were taking action on Ligo detecting gravitational waves

Well, it's going to start

Well, it's going to start around 2am my time and while I'd love to be awake to see it, I don't think I can. Oh well.... at least I'll go out peacefully in my sleep like my grandpa. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car! ;)

(Okay, old and bad joke, but it fit so nicely!)

PS: New avatar for your three-year E@H anniversary, Es99?

Oooooh well spotted. I hadn't noticed :) Has it really been that long?

The avatar was drawn by my son..i really like the way the cat is peeping in to the picture.

Only a few more hours 'til the physicists destroy the earth (cos that's how we roll). We'll be throwing an End of the World party in my lab while we watch the big event. I'll get extra cookies in.

Physics is for gurls!

That is well done by your young fellow isn't it? Captures the feline curiosity aspect and the face suggests a "wot's all this about?" caption. Subtext "food please, while you're at it". :-)

Cheers, Mike.
