RE: Tech six came back to

Tech six came back to work with Tech seven. Tech six was strictly an Outside Line Tech; and Tech seven was an Inside Line Tech.

ALL DAY!!! They were here ALL DAY!!! Come down to two lousy house phone wires... One pair of Phone Line...

Now all is well. :-)

This sounds like Comcast, aka the new Infinity! My neighbor had 'inside' and 'outside' guys come and go for over 2 weeks before he called the local County Supervisor and she told their bosses to meet her at his house. The 'outside' guy would pull up in his truck, never actually getting out, and then make a report that he knocked on the door but no one answered, YES we had video tape, and YES he got fired! The 'inside' guy would get out of his truck, hook up the wires to the box and say 'looks good to me' and only made 2 actual reports despite SAYING he came by 4 times! When their bosses came by, with the County Supervisor, it was discovered to be an 'outside' problem and the 'inside' guy never noticed that there was TOO MUCH signal going into the home! Turns out the 'outside' guys had replaced a bad section of cable and never told the inside guys there was more signal now, meaning all the amplifiers they had put on were not over driving the signal and corrupting it!! If the local County Supervisor hadn't gotten involved it might NEVER have gotten fixed, she told them she was going to put a hold on their County money if they didn't meet her at HER convenience.

Six months later both he and I left Comcast for Verizon FIOS and we couldn't be happier!!! I left for other outage reasons of my own, one being they flat out took my money and LIED to me!!!

I'm sorry that you had that experience Mikey. That is terrible; however, this U-verse experience is quite different.

Each and every Tech that came out, (except Tech five), truly wanted to fix the problem. Our problem started on straight Coax, (into and out of the Gateway), when we stepped up from 18 Mb internet to 24 Mb internet, and we started getting random pixelations all TV's.

The first two Techs came out, ran line tests, replaced many of the Coax ends. The third Tech insisted we take the system off of Coax for the input to the Gateway and change from the 2WIRE Gateway to the newer NVG589 Gateway. (No extra charges for this; unlike Comcast.) This is where the problem changed.

It was explained to me, yesterday, that the initial pixelations in the straight Coax install were due to noise/errors on the lines that the system was able to correct at 18 Mb; but at 24 Mb, could no longer be corrected. However; going to phone line and changing to the newer Gateway introduced new parameters, and changed the original problem to a new problem that wasn't discovered until yesterday.

Going up to 45 Mb, (per Tech three's suggestion), compounded the issue. Once on 45 Mb and now two Ports, (two pairs of Phone Lines), one pair started exhibiting a false "Bridge Tap" issue. Techs six and seven successfully diagnosed this, and corrected this.

As for cost, going from 24 to 45 MB is a $10 difference per month without promotional offsets. ...and, in moving the DVR from the Master Bedroom to the Gateway and connecting it via Ethernet required us to add a fifth box, (a 1200 Non-DVR box), to the Master Bedroom - $7 per month. No cost to us for labor on any of the Techs; and no cost to us on the wiring issue. So, I find U-verse to be FAR superior to Comcast.

Well, I'm sorry to report

Well, I'm sorry to report that we still are experiencing random pixelations on HD channels... :-(

The only "problem" being found, now, is that one of the Port lines into the house is suffering a 10 Mb drop of bandwidth/information... This is because the house wiring is RJ-11 phone line; NOT Cat5. So, the only remedy is to run Cat5 from the junction box on the side of the house, around the outside of the house, into the garage, and up into "The Closet", (the room where all the computer networking hardware, the RG, three Vonage devices, and two of my computers reside), then hook that up to a jack, (already in existence), and connect that to the input of the RG.

They were supposed to do this yesterday; however, no show by the Tech, no calls, no nothing. So, I called a Supervisor yesterday, and he said that he can have two Techs come out on Monday to do this.

Wish me/us luck; this is the absolute last thing to try to eliminate the pixelations on the TV's in our house. ALL my Network Hardware has been changed, the Vonage devices have been changed, and we are now on our second NVG589 Gateway. ALL AT&T hardware has been changed except for one 1200 box in my room that they swear is OK and NOT at issue... We'll see. :-/

U-verse Tech was out today.

U-verse Tech was out today. Pulled us off RJ-11 lines to the RG; ran one straight line of Cat5e from side of house at junction box through the attic above the garage, and into "The Closet" where the RG, my Network, three Vonage devices, and two of my wired computers all reside.

I really hope this does the trick, and resolves the pixelation problems on our TV's.

Yes, they have; and yet, we're still getting some pixelations. There has been improvement. Some of the shows, (time slots and channels), that were pixelating are no longer pixelating, others still are.

I don't know what we're going to do now. Pretty much everything that can be done has been done.
