I know time is running out

I know time is running out for S4 work, but never the less ... I've constructed the following app_info.xml for Linux (running beta app albert 4.58 for S4 and official einstein_S5R1 for S5):
[pre]

albert

albert_4.58_i686-pc-linux-gnu

albert_4.58_i686-pc-linux-gnu.so

albert
458

albert_4.58_i686-pc-linux-gnu

albert_4.58_i686-pc-linux-gnu.so

albert

albert_4.40_i686-pc-linux-gnu

albert_4.40_i686-pc-linux-gnu.so

albert
440

albert_4.58_i686-pc-linux-gnu

albert_4.58_i686-pc-linux-gnu.so

einstein_S5R1

einstein_S5R1_4.01_i686-pc-linux-gnu

einstein_S5R1_4.01_i686-pc-linux-gnu.so

einstein_S5R1
401

einstein_S5R1_4.01_i686-pc-linux-gnu

einstein_S5R1_4.01_i686-pc-linux-gnu.so

[/pre]

You just have to get those two new files (executable and library) somewhere. One of my linux boxes got them (I had to remove app_info.xml as per Bruce's old instructions ;) ) so I could just copy them to other linux boxes. They are happily crunching remaining S4 work and filling up with S5 work right now.

It should be pretty easy to adapt the above for other platforms (Windows, ...), just replace file names with correct ones for your platform.

[edit] I just hate preformatted text being double-spaced.

Since credits are determined by the Einstein server the credits per hour will vary depending on the speed of your machine.

I just finished my first S5 at about 19 hours with a Cr/hr of 8 on a Pentium 4.

For the credit seekers that have fast machines this is good, for people like me with slower machines, other projects will give more credit. Since credits are not my goal, I'm staying.

You´re right. "it´s for the science, not for the credits!" And if I´m look around, I´m not so bad with my AMD. Seems to be Intel CPU are slower right now...

At the moment is my problem, that I haven´t got new work since yesterday. Because the established CPU-times of the last S4 untis are mixed up. Hope it will be better tomorow.

welp. glad i set no new work

welp. glad i set no new work when i started getting s5's, heres why.

the s4's where takeing under 1.5 hours each thanks to akos :) so with trux i started getting s5's the first one said it was going to take a half hour. it then downloaded 8 more before i got around to setting no new work, each said 6 hours, based on statements here in the fora i knew this was wrong. and, i was right.

so i set nnw 3 days agoe and suspendid all s5's (none startd yet) after the s4's got done i shutdown boinc and got rid of the s4 app since i wasnt getting anymore s4's. i allso set calibration OFF. startid back up, and unsuspendid all s5's,, guess what? the one that was 30 minutes took about 2 - 3 hours. now all the ones that stated 6 hours show 23 hours! wah glad i set nnw. with a 3 day cache i would have endid up with 12 wu's at roughly 23 hours each thats one a day. wish i caught it sooner, but atleast i SHOULD still make the deadlines on the ones i have.

wowza what an increase.

edit: fixd minor spelling goofs.. minor to me anyway :)

seeing without seeing is something the blind learn to do, and seeing beyond vision can be a gift.

So far all my S5's are estimated at 3:36 and 3:41 but taking ~1:45 to do on a P4 2.4 Gig. The Celeron is still getting the S4 units so I increased the cach and it recieved another 20 S4's. That is doing them in ~0:55 so might as well get all it can before the end.

I got 3 S5 units couple of

I got 3 S5 units couple of days ago and i'm very glad i set to no new work immediatly.

Thanks everyone for your advice on limiting cache and probable trouble with optimised clients.

I will still be able to get them done for the deadline no trouble but i was still surprised when i just looked they're most estimated at under 4hours but so far this first one has only got 34% done in nearly 4hours.
When i finaly get all the einstien and seti chache run out i'll be able to look at switchng back to the official client after i've made a good backup of BBC-CCE

Thanks again everyone. Hopefully many others have visited this thread and avoided the problems thanks to your advice.
