Background
Originally, I’m from the UK but emigrated with my family to New Zealand in 2007 – the best move I ever made. I’m married to the best friend and best wife in the world, Jane. We have two boys; both are grown up and have left home to make their own mark on the world. Recently I retired from teaching science to high school kids. Retirement you see, will give me more time for my favourite hobby, brewing beer . That's why I helped to establish The Church of Lager :^D
Opinion
My original foray with distributed computing started with SETI@Home which I joined back in 1999. For the longest time, I was intrigued with the notion of extra-terrestrial life, somewhere, out there in the cosmos, but also because it seemed like a good idea at the time! That of course was before BOINC came along. Since then I have given idle computer time to other worthy causes such as Einstein@Home - but boy, it costs a pretty penny in electricity!
