well, im legally blind and color blind. my visual acuaty is 20/400 in both eyes so i can never drive, im dependant on other folks to take me around to stores and such. i dont have a job because the education and legal system faild me. yes you read that right. basicly the county i was attending school in refused to give access to large print books and other materials, and we had poor representation and agreed to things we shouldnt have. to make a long story short on this one my highest education level is 7th grade. many people i know consider me to be an intelagent person when it comes to pc's tho i can not spell to save my life.
i love computers and electronics, ive even mod'd several electronics to make them more functional for me and my mother, where both legaly blind. an example of this is the "message waiting" light on the cordless phones. there where a dim greenish color. i changed the l.e.d.'s out to 2200mcd blue l.e.d.'s so there much much easyr to see :)
i live with my folks, all 3 of us are disabled in some form or another. some people tend to think badly of some one over 18 living with there parants. frankly i dont. because we all live together we share in the houseing expensis, makes things easyr. plus i belive that the longer we can stay with our familys the better. i mean seriously. people who move away from there family, and hardly ever see them, are they truely happy? i dont know. but i know i wouldnt be.
what do i think about the project? its one of the best run projects out there! the dev's are envolved in the community and that makes it worth while!
why do i run the project? honestly, for something to do! i never leave the house so i need'd something to do to keep me sane. so why not a dc project? unfortunatly im hookd and would love to start a farm. but alas, finances prohibit it.
any suggestions? honestly. not one thing. except maybe takeing advantage of per cpu instruction sets to help speed things up a tad bit. and i can think of some enhancements for people like me that are legally blind and color blind, but we make up the minority and i dont think the majority would want the color scheam around here changed :)
