We are happy to have our family computer do useful things when powered on both in science and medical research.
My wife and I are in our late fifties with two girls, one hopefully about to start University and one still in school.
We live at a village just outside Winchester in the UK.
I am semi retired having worked for IBM for 30 years.
My wifes hobbies are Gardening, photography and Boule(petanque). I am also into photography and play Boule, I also attend a weekly Water Colour painting course.
I am a member of Hants Astro http://www.hantsastro.org/ which is Great for allowing me to look at the night sky without having to invest heavily in my own Telescope.
I hope to do a course at Clanfield with the Hampshire astronomical Group but would like to find somebody to car share with as the cost of petrol is a consideration these days.
I am due to attend an Open University summer school this July 2011 all about experiments in Quantum Mechanics.

"Why do you run Einstein@Home?"
Because I ( Or my computer at least ) can make a contribution however small to scientific and astronomical research. Eliminating data is just as important as finding stuff.
Understanding the universe and world we live in, is a very important part of life
as well as being fascinating.
I would encourage everybody to join projects like Einstein@home and the World Community Grid and put their spare computer resources to good use.
