Hi,
I keep getting this message, w/a dual core A64 4400+ x2, no less.
I'm not even getting 2 to process. This has been happening for over a week now. I tried reloading BOINC, as well as renaming the computer. No luck.
I'm not going to wait much longer before moving all my computers to another project.
Also all my credits have been dropping.
Any ideas?
Thx.

Couldn't start or resume: -108
Just guessing but it looks like a permission problem with Vista/Longhorn

Thx for getting back,
What is this permission problem?

G'day Gohack
Sorry but I don't know what the permission problem is, and as I said I'm only guessing. Looks like you've got some searching and googling to do.
Search these and the help boards for longhorn and vista and see what turns up, also search for the error message "couldn't start or resume: -108"

This appears to be the error message, but can't seem to find out what it means.

Have you excluded the BOINC directory from beeing scanned for viruses? Result start failure might be caused by that.
Or does your windows version require to explicite set the executable files to be allowed to be executed?

Here's a result from when it started malfunctioning:

It appears there is some kind of file system or permissions problem. Most likely the reason is Windows isn't letting the science app create, rename, and/or delete the Fstat files. Frequently this is due to AV conflicts when it's trying to scan the BOINC directories. An easy step to try is to exclude the BOINC directories from AV scanning (as Ananas pointed out).
OTOH, I wonder if this is similiar to a checkpointing bug which was recently found in the new SAH app.
At this point you might try poking around in the slot directories. There might be a clue left behind from the last bad start. One thing to be aware of is if this a "locked" file problem, switching projects won't necessarily fix it.

I've totally removed, w/a disk clean, then reloaded BOINC, but w/o any luck.
When I first ran BOINC/Enstein@Home on Vista, is ran OK, then all of a sudden it stated to spit them out as errors. Now it won't even download any.
RE: -185 =

I don't have any anti-virus program running in Vista.
