There's another reason more

There's another reason more people may be coming aboard. Science Magazine's latest edition has a cover story on DC projects. CPDN got the cover though---). Take a look here.

The more the merrier! And

The more the merrier!

And with luck, this year we will see a couple more worthwhile DC projects arrive.

Good grief, Barry... did you

Good grief, Barry... did you check out the work unit your first computer is currently working on? It's been sent out 61 times! LoL. I wasn't aware that they even did that. So... are you going to be the one to tame that wicked beast of a WU??

I do wonder what's up with that one though. It looks like most folks have completed it, but they all yielded invalid results?

Dig

Right -- same here -- 'client error'.

Must be the BOINC Einstein hazing routine .

I did complete a unit to the pending status on a second computer overnight though.

SETI BOINC's link is back up, though it may well take most of a day for the backlog to clear there.

I imagine you've only got one

I imagine you've only got one because of a combination of one or more of small resource share, small connect to network interval and small client on time. In any case, more work will appear well before the current work completes. Have you figured out that E@H work is a bit different compared to Seti WUs?

Actually, I revised the resource share for the one workstation where I had SETI BOINC running as well, and I revised the network interval up to 6 days.

Neither workstation got additional work units in queue, but both have gotten a second unit to chew on after the first one cleared.

Right -- though at the moment, perhaps folks wandering over from Seti Boinc might provide plenty of volunteers over here.

I suspect you know this, the link was restored early this morning and the Seti BOINC server was trying to handle the work surge, and then this evening the server took itself offline -- perhaps from the work surge.

I re-set my work shares between Einstein and SETI for now so that the systems running BOINC that have both will focus on Einstein.

I still have a bunch of Seti Classic systems running -- since I have a goal of reaching the top 500 there -- current rank is 501.

The thing is, those folks who are active in Seti Classic are staying active -- especially toward the high end. So climbing up to 500 from 501 is a rather long chase requiring that I keep most of my classic farm active there. During this Seti BOINC run of outages, I have a number of systems where I simply run command line Seti classic (which basically puts Seti Boinc to sleep).

good luck on breaking into the 500 Barry...i hope some of the seti folk add 'd really like to see the new stat of importance be "total boinc credits"...that way one doesn't feel totally tied to one project...they can score credits for other ones that interest them and climb up the ranks that way..."total boinc credits" is the way to go...meanwhile...crunch that classic while you can...i think you're gonna hit 500 before classic ends.
