I have recently installed Boinc and did an attaching of this project to it. Under account->tasks->all, it looks as though 5 tasks have been sent and are in-progress.
Also i have checked the running processes and boinc has a few running, and as expected is using my cpu.
I run into a bit of confusion when there is no cpu time, or runtime. I have not been running this very long, but am curious how often this information is sent, or if I am actually running work on the tasks ( or not ). Of course I will give it time, but if for some reason the computer isnt doing work I would like to troubleshoot it and get it running.

Just starting, but confused on tasks

I have a Properties tab on my Window Manager, Boinc 6.10.58, which gives informations on running tasks.

In the web pages you will see no CPU or other times in the tasks until they get finished and the results were reported to the project. I mean the web pages dont show the progress status of tasks beeing worked.
It is in the Boinc Manager where you can see the details of tasks in progress.
You need to switch to the advanced view to see a complete detail of what your computer is doing for the BOINC projects...
There you will see which tasks are beeing processed with the time elapsed and an estimation of the remaining time to be finished along with the tasks that have been downloaded and are queued to be processed when some task is finished.

If you are looking at the website to get this info it won't be there until after you start returning units and get credits for them. The website does NOT talk to your pc about the units that are running unless they are done and need returning or to decide if you need new units.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I had run the update command 2-3 times over the course of the night, that from what i understand queries the main server and gets additional tasks if there is room to work. It did not update the progress, but this morning I found 4 tasks completed and pending 700 credits. I also now have reports on how much runtime and cpu time was spent per task.
Off to a decent start so far!

Hitting update only works if you have a task waiting to be sent back, normally Boinc itself will take care of that all by itself. When Boinc needs new work, based on your cache settings, it will send the completed units and get new units at the same time. Doing things at the same time saved Server time. Each connection we make to the Server takes time, there are a few hundred thousand users and if we ALL clicked update revery day the Server wouldn't have time to do anything else, like send us units and process the ones we send back. That is why there is an automatic backoff time set when you do click update and it is finished. Each project sets its own backoff time, with some being MUCH longer then others. If a project is actually down the backoff times can quickly stretch into the multiple hours before a retry is done.
It will take a couple of weeks for your credits to settle into a routine where the RAC stops going up and your returned units and the units your pc receives sort of balances out. RAC stands for Recently Acquired Credits and is a formula and is based on your recently returned units and the credit they got. It does take into your units from a month ago but the more recent ones are weighted more. It can be helpful if you see it going down it give you an idea that something could be wrong. There are MANY things that can cause it to go down, not ALL of them on us the users end.
Keep crunching and you will start to pick up on some things that make you say HUH, when that happens please ask! We were ALL where you now when we too started out!
