OK, one other thing is that it's possible your CPU doesn't get enough electricity. If you have the possibility to set voltages for the CPU in the BIOS, you may try to up it in very small increments (0.05V) to see if that stabilizes it.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then don't. Ask a (local) computer store, or a technically challenged friend for help, if possible.

I have tried the 'efmer' tool, but temperatures are ok at all times (~65-70°C).

Are we talking about your Q6600? 70°C for the Q6600 would be quite high, for the mobile C2 it would be OK, tho.

Agreed, if that's the case

Agreed, if that's the case temperature. The max is 62.2 C for a 105 W TDP Q6600. It's probably still pushing the envelope it if those are the core temps as well.

I'm wondering if he's been trying to overclock, in which case the suggestion is to backoff a bit.

Hello, last night, I touched

Hello,
last night, I touched the mouse with my synthetic morningcoat on. Then ZIIP the computer went immediately off. A discharge pulse. After switching it on again, it booted properly and continued the task for E@H. Nothing happened (I hope). At least, I´m very happy, that it started at all again. Do you think, I should abort the computation and request a new task?

No need to abort the task if it's running again. It restarted at the last checkpoint, so nothing got lost but a few seconds computing time.
