1.5M RAC is extremely low for a 3080ti. What app are you running? It should be like double that.

Seems you made a mistake on

Seems you made a mistake on the RAC. That system has like 3.5+. Which is normal. Not sure where you were getting 1.5-1.6

faster CPU speed will make slightly faster processing.

Typo. Should have been 3.5M. Looking to get to 3.6+

I have a slightly cut down

I have a slightly cut down EVGA rtx 3080 ti.  It is running hot at 88C with 100 percent fans. Cutting the power limit to 300 watts and/or MTM overclock doesn't seem to cool it down.  Neither did blowing out the dust

I think the graphics clock would run higher if I could get it cooler.

  1. Do nothing.
  2. Sell/replace.
  3. Strap some fans on as a proof of concept to see if cools at all?
  4. $50 fan/heatsink/heat pad kit from Amazon?

Any other ideas?

Tom, you really need to be a little more clear or less vague about what your intentions are.

"Strap some fans on as a proof of concept to see if cools at all?"

Does this mean that you don't have any fans in the roof of the case?

"$50 fan/heatsink/heat pad kit from Amazon?"

Could you identify what 'pad kit' you're referring to for $50?

George, is the Amazon kit.

https://www.amazon.com/Backplate-Radiator-Aluminum-Heatsink-Graphics/dp/B0B1M4D1F6/ref=asc_df_B0B1M4D1F6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647118588855&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7192791075543175523&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1017537&hvtargid=pla-1720567955493&psc=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj8SNuZ3x_wIVEQl9Ch1RfwH0EAQYBiABEgI7lfD_BwE

I have some case fans I could try "straping on" the back of the gpu.  If simply blowing more air against the back plate makes enough of a difference I can stop there.  If it only makes a little difference then the Amazon listing might be a good step up.

Mikey,

Apparently I can't see how they would install.  (my brain has died???)

I do have more case fans I can use.  I was going to simply zip tie them to the back plate and see if they helped.

The first one is just a bracket that takes up one or two slots depending on how deep the fans are, you screw the fans to the bracket and they attach to the case like a gpu does and hangs down in front of the gpu. I guess think of an upside down long sided letter L_______ with the short side at the back of the case and the long side running down the length of your gpu but not touching it where you hang the fans. The 2nd one looks like it includes the fans so all you have to do is put a screw in it and attach a couple fan type power wires and you are good to go.

Essentially it would take the place of your zip tied fans. A teammate of mine a long time ago used to not buy replacement fans for his gpu's he would just drill a small hole and attach a case fan or two over the holes where the old gpu fan was and he said he got ALOT more airflow that way. If there was no room for screw holes he would zip tie the fan on, I did see one he did that had zip ties running thru the screw holes.

Tom's Hardware and der8auer

Tom's Hardware and der8auer both did reviews of cheap backplate coolers and proved they are worthless.

Actually hurting the card by making temps worse.

Don't do it.  Just improve your case airflow.
