How do I set a computer to be 'home', 'work', or 'school'?

Hey everyone,

I just installed BOINC and attached E@H to it on my main desktop. I would like to attach it to my laptop as well, but I'm having trouble.

The desktop has an ATI Radeon HD4350 512MB Graphics card, which I initially set E@H to use exclusively (i.e., no CPU usage). However, upon connecting the laptop to the project (which has no GPU), the laptop cannot function.

It seems I can set the laptop to have separate settings via switching it to be either 'home', 'work', or 'school', but I cannot see where to specify that the laptop is one of those in order to apply separate settings that will allow it to use the CPU, while my main desktop uses only the GPU.

Hope I provided enough information and thanks to anyone who replies. :)

Oh, by the way - I realize that E@H is not CUDA, and therefore cannot use an ATI GPU - but upon setting it up as such, it seemed to be processing data just fine. If anyone would like to see the logs, I'd be happy to dig them out (first, I'd need to know where to find them :P). Not sure what that means, but meh, if it works, it works! :D

Hi, setting a host venue

Hi,

setting a host venue is relatively easy. First goto "Your Computers"-page, now click on "Details". At the end of the page there should be a selection list.

Hi Michael,

Upon clicking the 'details' hyperlink on that page, I get a page that simply says in text 'Couldn't find computer'. That, I suppose, is where I'm running into trouble. Do you happen to know why that's happening?

Thanks for your help.

Hi, there is a thread about this bug/feature. I just hope I am right, but at least it is no general problem, because I can see my computer details.

Hi Michael,

For further testing, I attempted to open the details page in Google Chrome and Internet Explorer (I was using Firefox). No dice. The other thread reports the issue, but they don't seem to have a solution other than wait. That's what I'll do I suppose. :) Thank you for your help.

A replica database ( which

A replica database ( which serves said details to the web pages mentioned ) has stopped and is now out of sync with the main database instance .... this is being attended to as we speak.

Cheers, Mike.

A replica database...

Sounds familiar ;-)

I just didn't expect that being used the same way as at SETI, otherwise I had said "replica out of sync" from the beginning. :-)
