Well, I think, earlier or later (more likely later) we need IPv6 support. May be in 5 years, may be not.
I'm not sure if this is the right place (probably not, the network traffic is handled by the boinc itself an not by the applications), but the e@h project maintainers may ask the boinc developers for IPv6 support.
Just an idea ...

BOINC 6.10 already has IPv6 support through libcurl, which handles the communications. There are no projects with IPv6 only addresses yet, although you can test attachment with Povaddict's Babel project, which runs with IPv6.
