Updating BOINC Client

Hi Sean
All you have to do is exit Boinc and install the new version, it works for me.

You don't need to do anything special with your on-board work. BOINC is designed to be upgraded 'over the top' and your 'in progress' work will not be affected. The procedure is basically to completely stop BOINC, install the new version, then restart BOINC.

Your biggest shock will come from the fact that there will be separate program and data directories instead of the single BOINC directory of the old version. The installer will do all that for you but there will be more questions to answer and you will need a complete reboot at the end of it all. You should also pay attention to where these directories are being created so that you can find them in future when you need to. I always override the default locations so that they are put where I want them to be. For Windows, I use D:\Programs\BOINC\ and D:\Programs\BOINC_Data\.

You should check out the BOINC documentation. For example, read about the BOINC installer here.

Cheers,
Gary.
