        Hi!

        You will want to check whether after installing into the E@H projects directory, all the files (execpt app_info.xml) have their executable bit set. If not,

        chmod u+x [name of the file]

        in a Terminal window will do the trick.

          Now that things have settled down after the outage, I'm happy to confirm that run-times have halved on my machines, 2.16 GHz C2D processors now taking ~16000 secs instead of ~33000 previously. All results have validated successfully. Also runs without problems on Snow Leopard but needs a fairly recent version of the BOINC client (I'm using 6.6.36)

          The only issue appears to be the incorrect permissions on the new copy of einstein_S5R5_5.01_i686-apple-darwin as noted earlier in this thread

            Thnaks for the feedback. About having to use a fairly recent BOINC version...is this a thing about Snow Leopard, e.g. did former versions fail to run under SL? Or was there a problem with the app?

              Just complete two WU under Snow Leopard, BOINC ver 6.10.0 & opt application for ABP1.
              Al this WU's was OK. Next 6 was suddenly returned with "Computation error", so, practically at the beginning of computation start.
              Next two WU's (after 6 errors) starts normally, will wait for the results.
              Regarding the processing - new ABP1 opt app becomes significantly faster.

                  I was previously running BOINC 6.2.14, the manager ran OK under SL but the client would not start because of unresolved symbols. There was also the 'usual' need to reinstall BOINC because of 'ownership' issues which seems to occur after every major OS X upgrade, so I bit the bullet and installed 6.6.36 which (so far) seems to run without any problems

                  I believe this may be the permissions issue, I had a similar problem when I first installed the Beta,

                  As an admin user open a Terminal window and try :-

                  cd '/Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu'
                  sudo chmod 755 einstein_S5R5_5.01_i686-apple-darwin (you'll be prompted for your password)

                  I haven't had any validation issues so far under Snow Leopard, but haven't returned enough work yet to see if there are any further performance improvements (or otherwise), it certainly isn't drastically worse though

                  The Beta seems like seems like a pretty significant improvement though, Well done !

                    Unless you set the right permissions (chmod) for ../../projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu/einstein_S5R5_5.01_i686-apple-darwin. See the posts of Bikeman and Pete Burgess in this thread.
