NASA has flown a DC8 aircraft

NASA has flown a DC8 aircraft equipped with downward looking radar all over Antarctica and a turboprop aircraft similarly equipped all over Greenland. We must wait for NASA to gather and process data on icesheet thickness.

Alas, he has been misunderstood - alot of people think he knows something about the topics upon which he speaks. He got the Nobel Peace Prize ( which isn't a science prize ) which you can get these days for something you are going to do : rather than for something one has already done. As Tullio points out, this is why we await data from reality rather than commercial and political hubris.

What now with the Iceland volcano though? Will this act to depress temperatures? Do the climate models include these messy eruptions? If not, they'll certainly need to ....

Cheers, Mike.

I am running a CPDN model with December 2011 deadline. It certainly includes volcanic emissions. It covers the 1920-2080 period.

Whit this in mind I'm just wondering 'which' side you think are representing the commercial and political hubris? ;)

Neither, and your error is to have assumed that I represent 'a side'. Your second error is to think that one has to take sides, as what is being presented is a classic false dichotomy ( it has to be black or white despite the miles of gray in between ). The whole purpose of the hubris ( of either type ) is to engender fear - whichever way the audience leans. Don't be driven. Look at whatever facts you can lay your hands on and decide for yourself.

Cheers, Mike.

Relief well will fail, 46

Relief well will fail, 46 billion gallons could flow into Gulf.

Here’s something much more worrisome for you Global Warming
( we can and must save Mother Gia Earth ) types to worry about.

Here’s the good news – I read that ( left unchecked ) this oil leak could potentially
( by interfering with the Gulf Stream ) create a new ‘Ice Ageâ€

Global Warming is ‘Solved’ !

You'll have to explain that one a lot further.

Or are you just trying to give a very lame excuse that BP and the USA need do nothing and have no worries over the Gulf pollution catastrophe?

Some people at NOAA are predicting a big solar storm in 2013 which will affect all power grids and communication grids, and also our cell phones. But there is no need to worry because, according to the Mayan calendar, the world will end in 2012. This is called "schadenfreude" in German.
